Must-Have Moisturizers

Since autumn has officially just begun, let’s talk about moisturizers fall/winter skin. Everyone needs a moisturizer no matter your skin type, but its important to know how to choose amongst the wonderful agents found on the market. As a dermatologist, I get to experiment and listen to market research for multiple brands, so after some considerations and MULTIPLE patients reviews, these are my go to choices:

Oily Skin (fall/winter): If you dry out oily skin it can actually overcompensate with more oil, so be aware and wear some moisturizer— Hydrating Gel Cream

  • Elta MD AM and PM Moisturizer

  • Neutrogena Hydroboost gel moisturizer

  • Elta MD UV clear SPF 46

  • Cetaphil oil-control moisturizer

Sensitive Skin/ Combination skin (fall/winter)

  • CeraVe PM facial moisturizing lotion

  • Elta MD UV Daily SPF 40 Moisturizing

  • Kiehl’s Oil Free Moisturizer

Dry Skin (fall/winter):

  • Laroche Posay Lipkar balm intense repair moisturizing cream

  • Laroche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 (post procedure sensitive dry skin)

  • Vanicream facial moisturizer (AM/PM, eczema, very dry skin)

  • REN Ultra Moisturizer Day Cream

Now, this is by far not an extensive list but it does cover some key points:

Oily skin- Gels or lotions that are oil-free and non comedogenic

Combination/Sensitive- lotions and hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic

Dry Skin- CREAMS > gels/lotions
